Client: Jersey Heritage Trust
Role: Architectural Design & Building Conservation
‘MP3‘ was constructed in 1941 as a range finding tower for coastal artillery. In 1976 it was converted for use as a coast-guard station, and the upper storey was added, giving all-round views of the South-West approaches to Jersey. The coast-guard was relocated in 2005 and the decision was made to include the tower in the ‘Forts & Towers’ project and convert it for use as rental accommodation.
The tower now provides 3 double bedrooms - one per floor, each with its own shower room - a kitchen and on the top floor, in the former control room, a Sitting and Dining Room. Complete new services were provided, and the tower now offers a unique opportunity to stay in a Second World War fortification.
