La Cotte de St Brelade
La Cotte de St Brelade is one of the most significant Upper Palaeolithic archaeological sites in Europe. A programme of archaeological excavation is planned over the next 10 years as part of the Ice Age Island project led by six researchers from leading UK institutions.
In order to provide safe access for archaeologists and visiting groups, the mid 20th Century route round the cliff face is to be re-opened. We applied for planning consent to carry out the necessary footpath works, for stabilising the rock face within the archaeological site and for constructing a protective wall to prevent damage to the site by tidal surges.
