Le Catelet is a typical Jersey farmhouse – it started life in the 18thC as a single storey building, and had a second floor added in the early 19thC. At the end of the 19thC a 2 storey barn was added at the East end and in the mid 20thC it was provided with a new kitchen.
When our client bought the property the South façade was very damp and the wooden floors were rotten. The ground and first floors were repaired, the South wall repointed with lime on the outside and had breathable insulation added internally, which was lime plastered and painted.
The barn was converted to provide a kitchen and hall on the ground floor, with a bedroom and bathroom above.
The rest of the house has been beautifully decorated and is now a comfortable country home.
