We adapt, alter and extend historic buildings, making changes that allow them to work for people today.

We also design new buildings and offer advice on appropriate new design on listed buildings. We like traditional materials: stone, lime mortar, slates, pantiles, brick, wood and iron results in high quality, solid buildings that look ‘right’ in historic contexts. The 20th Century also inspires our use of concrete, steel and glass in some buildings – it doesn’t have to look ‘old-fashioned’.

We provide design review for architect, surveyors and designers and also help clients choose the right architects for specific projects. We help developers and architects commission artists percentage for art schemes and design public realm improvements. We place particular emphasis on the importance of context, especially in the historic built environment.  We like traditional materials: stone, lime mortar, slates, pantiles, brick, wood and iron results in high quality, solid buildings that look ‘right’ in historic contexts.
