Dumaresq & Pitt Street

Nos 4, 5 & 6 Pitt Street and 6, 7 & 8 Dumaresq Street are a run of mid 18th – early 19th Century buildings in central St Helier, which were under threat as a result of the submission of an application to demolish and redevelop the site. Through 2013 and 2014 we advised the National Trust for Jersey and Save Jersey’s Heritage and joined their campaign to save the buildings.

We offered alternative valuations and plans for the site and successfully argued for the retention of 4 of the 6 buildings and helped with the design of replacements for Nos 6 & 7 Dumaresq Street to ensure they were more sympathetic to the traditional streetscape.

We took part in negotiations with the owner of the site and helped agree a number of planning conditions that both protected the historic buildings and enabled the owner to obtain permission for the site – a ‘win-win’ result.
